Steamers!

ree

We like to feed them, before we eat them - it makes them sweeter! If you wanted to do this, put a small amount of cold water in your sink. You don't want the steamers covered in the fresh water, because it can kill them. Add cornmeal all over the steamers and keep them there for about 15- 20 minutes, then it's time to cook!

Want a tasty broth to dip the steamers in before dipping them in butter?

We like to steam the clams in the following to add flavor, then we use the broth when enjoying the clams.

Add a little water to the pot.

Add a light beer, (only 1 can/bottle because you want to make sure you're steaming the clams.)

Add a little:

White onion

Black pepper

Bay leaves

Steam for 5-10 minutes, or until your clams have opened. Discard any unopened ones.

To eat, open the shell and remove the cooked clam. Use your fingers to pull off the skin covering the siphon of the clam. Discard with the shells into the shell bowl. Dip the clam in the hot broth, then melted butter and ENJOY!
